Art is vida.
Here lies my portfolio of art things. I hope to pursue some of these styles/topics as a tattoo artist.
American Traditional
Over the past year, I taught myself how to draw in the American Traditional tattoo style. I really enjoyed the whole process from learning how to take a detailed reference image and simplify it, to inking bold lines, spit shading, and painting in vibrant colors.
Cubez & Tubez
For many years I’ve been drawing a variety of #cubezandtubez. Ideally, I want to push this style with tattooing and see how it evolves.
Hand Lettering
As a kid, I drew bubble and block letters on the reg. Becoming a graphic designer introduced me to the art of lettering and I have since experimented with many a style. Here is a sampling of ideas I’ve executed.
-
Created in Procreate.
Wanting my branding to be inspired by a mix of bubble letters, letterpress, and overall groovy-ness, I drew these bad boys for kenz the wenz.
-
Hand drawn and digitized in Adobe Illustrator. While working on potential signage for a coffee stand, I drew COFFEE in a tombstone style, which then inspired this poster design.

Hand drawn and digitized in Adobe Illustrator.
After moving to Colorado from the East Coast back in 2015, I wanted to send out a Christmas card letting everyone know back home how CO was treating me.
-
Created in Procreate.I heard this saying from a movie or something and knew I wanted to letter it. I love the combo of cute (bubble letters) but kinda rude (fuck you). This is for all those people who did ya dirty and you’ll never forgive them!
-
Created in Procreate. My partner and I joke that I should wear a “Fall Risk” bracelet because #1 I trip a lot, but #2 I get lightheaded really easily…Felt like lettering a future tattoo that I might get one day.
-
Chalkboard paint on wall. There was this big blank wall when I worked at Primal Wear and one day I asked my boss if I could do something with it. The end result was painting/creating “The Forum” wall for people to interact with and post weekly events on it so everyone knew what was coming up. It was fun to see what kinds of doodles people would draw on it throughout the day.
Everything Else
This section covers anything and everything that doesn’t fit in the categories above.

Acrylic on wood canvas
Painted for Shift Art charity event in 2018. It was successfully bid on and sold.
-
Watercolor on paper. An architecture and shading study done in my college Drawing Studio class.
-
Acrylic on water color paper.During my Surface Studio class in college, we had an exercise where we had to choose a painting from another artist and recreate that painting in greyscale. David Hockney is my favorite, so I chose his Portrait of Nick Wilder to paint.

Acrylic on wood canvas. This was another painting I did for the Shift Art charity event in 2017. It was successfully bid on and sold.
-
Watercolor on watercolor paper.I’m a little obsessed with architectural things like staircases. The reference image was actually a yellow spiral staircase, but I wanted to experiment with straight blue.
-
Staedtler Pigment Liner on watercolor paper.I came across a striking image of this plant in a bottle and wanted to see how I could make a simplified line drawing from it. I enjoyed trying to layer each leaf in just the right way.
-
Watercolor on watercolor paper. An architect I follow on Instagram posted about a kitchen renovation that included this striking tableset. I just had to try and recreate it with watercolor.
-
Gouache on watercolor paper.
One day I decided to mess around a bit with gouache. I wanted to play with color, patterns, textures, and whatever else I felt like doing.
-
Hand drawn illustrations, vectorized in Adobe Illustrator.I created this series of Instagram posts for the 12 Days of Deals campaign while I worked at Primal Wear. Each illustration was hand drawn and then vectorized in Adobe Illustrator. It was really fun thinking of different Christmas doodles to do that would match the sale of the day.
-
Gouache on watercolor paper.A reference image of an archway looking out onto the ocean caught my eye with it’s geometry, so I created my own version.
-
Staedtler Pigment Liner and watercolor on watercolor paper.Discovered a stunning image of a lotus plant and decided to recreate in a simplified manner.
-
Staedtler Pigment Liner on watercolor paper.I love chairs. Their structures can be so architectural and geometric. Can’t wait to expand this series one day!
